Since 1976
The company was founded in 1976 by Franco Gianotti under the name of PROMA and focused in the production of special exhaust systems for motorcycles and scooters.
In 1981, the company changed its name to Padana Ricambi S.p.A., but the core business of the PROMA brand remained inextricably linked to the Piaggio models “Ciao” and “Vespa.”
1989 was an important year for the company because it came in contact with KYMCO, the Taiwanese giant of scooter and motorcycle production.
This event allowed Padana Ricambi S.p.A. to become the exclusive importer for Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands by 1991.
The success of KYMCO vehicles increased with the growth of the Italian scooter market, which boomed during these years, prompting the company to solely focus on KYMCO products and leaving behind the production and marketing of special parts.
