Automated warehouse
Our company has recently invested in an advanced automated warehouse called Autostore, which covers an area of 1,500 square meters.
Our main objective has always been to improve operational efficiency and storage capacity. With the increase in demand for our products, we needed a system that could handle a higher volume of orders and items without ever compromising the quality of service.
Autostore is an automated storage system designed to optimize warehouse management. It utilizes a network of robots that move over a grid of containers (or bins), retrieving and depositing items as needed. The grid is a three-dimensional structure composed of a series of tracks arranged both horizontally and vertically. Within the grid, the bins are stacked on top of each other in columns, allowing for optimal use of the available space.
The robots move on wheels along the grid’s tracks and can travel in all directions to reach any position. Autostore can be integrated with existing warehouse management systems (WMS), enhancing synchronization and order management.
When an order is received, the robots retrieve the necessary containers and transport them to delivery ports (or bays), where human operators interact with the system. The operators pick the required items or deposit new items according to instructions provided on a monitor. In our bays, a laser pointer indicates the exact item to be picked, minimizing errors. Once the order is completed, the containers are returned to their original position or to other optimized positions by the robots.
The packages prepared by our operators are placed on a conveyor belt at a height of 1.2 meters, which moves them overhead to the shipping preparation area, where they are handled by two robotic palletizing arms. These robotic arms pick the packages from the conveyor and arrange them neatly on pallets.
This automated palletizing process increases the efficiency and speed of order preparation, further reducing the risk of errors or damage to the boxes, thereby improving overall productivity.
OUR NUMBERS
Our system specifically has the capacity to handle 1,500 picking lines per hour and 240 cartons per hour. We have 22,000 bins and 19 robots working in synergy to ensure speed and accuracy.
The Autostore system maximizes space thanks to the vertical structure of the grid, increasing storage capacity. The robots, both fast and precise, reduce picking times and improve productivity. The system is modular and can be easily expanded by adding additional robots or extending the grid, making it suitable for warehouses of various sizes.
This strategic investment allows us to maintain a high level of service and respond quickly to market demands, consolidating our position as a leader in the industry.
